Raman scattering study of pressure-induced phase transitions in MIn2S4 spinels
نویسندگان
چکیده
MIn2S4 (M = Mn, Cd, Mg) spinels were investigated by Raman scattering spectroscopy under hydrostatic pressure up to 20 GPa. These compounds were found to undergo a reversible phase transition to a Raman-inactive defect NaCl-type structure. Transition pressures of 7.2, 9.3, and 12 GPa were found for M = Mn, Cd, and Mg, respectively. From the analysis of the pressure behaviour of Raman-active modes, it was concluded that the phase transition from spinel to NaCl-type structure is direct in MnIn2S4 and CdIn2S4, while it occurs via an intermediate LiVO2-type NaCl superstructure in MgIn2S4. The observed differences in pressure and path of the pressure-induced phase transition between these indium sulphide spinels are discussed.

High-pressure Raman scattering study on zircon- to scheelite-type structural phase transitions of RCrO4
High-pressure Raman scattering experiments were performed on the zircon-type RCrO4 R=Nd, Dy compounds with the space group I41 /amd by using diamond anvil cell techniques at room temperature. These two compounds exhibit similar Raman behaviors. Pressure-induced structural phase transitions were observed at the onset of 1.3 and 4.1 GPa for R=Nd and Dy, respectively. Moreover, pressure-released R...
متن کاملPressure Induced Raman and Fluorescence Singularities in Liy F 4
The pressure effect on the fluoride scheelite laser host LiY F4 is studied at room temperature up to 26 GPa by Raman scattering and up to 40 GPa by P 3+ fluorescence of doped sample. The Raman spectra exhibit three singularities at the vicinity of 6 GPa, 10-12 GPa and 16-17 GPa. The samples pressurized to 21 GPa or higher do not recover the original phase after being released, giving more Raman...

[1] High-pressure Raman and X-ray diffraction data on single crystals of hydrous layer-structure minerals, dickite and gibbsite, reveal structural phase transitions occurring between 2.0 and 2.5 GPa. In the case of dickite, this is the first documented occurrence of a pressure-induced phase transformation in a 1:1 phyllosilicate. Above the transition the structure of individual 1:1 layers remai...
متن کاملPressure Dependence of the Raman Modes Related to the Phase Transitions in Cyclohexane
(Received March 15, 2014; revised version January 15, 2015; in nal form February 10, 2015) The pressure dependence of the Raman frequencies for the ν21 mode is studied by using the volume data at room temperature close to the transitions among the phases of III, IV and V in cyclohexane. By determining the pressure dependence of the mode Grüneisen parameter γT in the phases and taking the averag...

Pressure-dependent Raman scattering studies in the range 0.0 – 32 kbar were carried out in L-alanine in order to investigate its external mode phonon spectra in relation to the phase transitions in the crystal. A careful analysis of the spectra shows that the low-energy Raman modes exhibit variation both in frequency and in intensity and between 26 and 28 kbar it is observed a splitting of a ex...
